Mt Eliza Christmas Fair: Saturday 11th December 2010

It’s coming and so is Christmas! Mt Eliza Village traders are hosting our much-loved annual Village Mt Eliza Christmas Fair on Saturday, December 11 from 2-7pm.

Mornington Peninsula Shire has called on the state government to purchase a 40 hectare property in Mount Eliza to ensure its biodiversity is protected for future generations. The land, at 185 Wooralla Drive Mount Eliza, contains biodiversity values of state significance and is also recognised by the National Trust for its landscape values as part of the Mount Eliza escarpment.

A new mermaid appears in the Village

A new mermaid appears in The Village, courtesy of local artist Fiona Presland. Following the last mermaid flags created by Janine Daddo, the Mt Eliza Chamber of Commerce has commissioned a 2nd local artist, Fiona Presland, to interpret the mermaid to grace the flags of Mt Eliza.

This is a project of Samaritan’s Purse through which your children can bring a smile to the faces of children living in poverty. By filling a shoe box with simple gifts such as soap, a teddy bear, pencils, tennis balls or a cap, your child can make it a Christmas to remember for a child of a similar age. The boxes are collected and distributed to boys and girls between the ages of 2-14 in such places as Cambodia and Vietnam during December.

The Village Mt Eliza was caught on film with the 2010 Mt Eliza Photography Competition. This year's theme was “The Village Mt Eliza - Shop Taste Indulge”.

After 18 months in the making and a few obstacles to overcome, Mt Eliza’s Farmers Market has made a ‘fresh and fantastic’ start. Thousands of locals and visitors to the area were thrilled by the quality of the event, some stating that it had “exceeded their expectations”.

There has been a spate of burglaries of local shops during the wee small hours of the morning (one trader was recently broken into twice in just over a week).

On Sunday, March 28 8am-12.30pm, local growers will bring to the Village their free-range eggs, cheeses, seasonal fruit and vegies, seafood, boutique beers, condiments, pastries, free-range meats and more.
